If I'm lucky, this is what greets me in the early mornings, before everyone else in the house rises...
a warm cup of coffee, cream and sugar please.
I am often the sole early riser in the family. And this is another place where I can carve out a bit of me time. This, of course, isn't always the case. It seems my two youngest girls can be early-risers as well. My oldest ... well, though she isn't into the double-digits yet, she sleeps like a teenager (late to bed, late to rise).
And this cup. This particular mug that I use (which is part of a family of four such mugs in this house), is special for two reasons. My dearest friend that I've known for ages bought me the set for my birthday years ago. So each time I drink from the mug, I think of her. And even more special - these mugs were handmade by my old high-school English/pottery teacher! I never got to take any of his pottery classes (unfortunately), but I did enjoy him as my English teacher... and so each time I drink from these mugs, I think of him as well and wonder how he's doing.
