Okay, so we're aren't really sitting on chickens. But we are babysitting some chickens. Our neighbors are off to Disneyworld and needed someone to collect eggs while they were away.
Sadly, we've decided that this year isn't the year for us to get chickens, so this is a wonderful chance to get some chicken tending time under our belts without actually owning the chickens. The girls are super excited, and when we were learning the ropes of what to do to care for the chickens the other day, the girls were pratically hopping off the walls with excitement (and plans to play with the chickens). My middle child (who had collected eggs while I we were learning how to tend the chickens) nearly broke them all while she was fluttering around in egg-citement (sorry, I really tried to not put that pun in there, but couldn't help myself).
So our week will be spent with twice daily excursions to our neighbors to check on the chickens, collect eggs, make sure the water is clean, ensure they haven't run out of food, let them out in the morning and put them in before dusk.
As you can see, the girls have already fallen in love with their new charges!
